After a devastating fire in 2011, Kubik was asked to rebuild an up-to-date equivalent of the original house. The Delft school style as well as the size stayed virtually the same. But the functional space within was doubled to 280 m2 through the full use of the ground floor and roof space.
Modernizing the house meant better insulation. Efficient heating systems and an overall plan of the house meeting the requirements of today.
The floor plan was modernized. Interconnecting rooms are separated by large sliding doors. The kitchen and dining area form one living space.
Solutions where incorporated in the plans like the vertical shaft for the laundry. Or the efficient placing of the shower in the large chimney so as to optimize the space under the roof.
On the outside the style of the house was respected as wished by the owners. The back of the house received an extra large balcony with stairs making it able to reach the garden directly from the first floor.
