KNCV Tuberculosis Foundation is more than one hundred years actively engaged in the worldwide fight against tuberculosis. In 2004, the organization grew so out of joint it was decided to move to a seventies building in the Parkstraat in The Hague.
A few important criteria formed the basic principles in the design of Kubik.
First the two floors would have to be flexibly designed according to principles of ‘The New Work environment’, where freedom exists to determine where, when and how we work.
Secondly the design had to provide for an expected growth of the organization in the future. Furthermore, the representation to visitors and ministries, had to look sincere and not too fancy. The Foundation’s work is possible only through subsidies and donations.Kubik’s choices therefor had to be well justified. The use of wood waste, finger jointed together, for doors and frames are a direct result of this and were cost effective as well. Finally the huge photo prints on floor-to-ceiling cabinets visualize the international character of the KNCV Tuberculosis Foundation and provides additional color and atmosphere.

KNCV Tuberculosefonds bestrijdt tuberculose wereldwijd al meer dan honderd jaar. In 2004 was de organisatie uit haar voegen gegroeid. Besloten werd om te verhuizen naar een jaren zeventig-pand aan de Parkstraat in Den Haag.
Kubik nam dit gebouw onder handen op basis van twee belangrijke criteria. Ten eerste moesten de ruimten op de twee verdiepingen flexibel in te delen zijn, zowel voor het dagelijks gebruik als voor de verwachte groei van de organisatie. Ten tweede moest de uitstraling representatief zijn, omdat men regelmatig buitenlandse bezoekers en vertegenwoordigers van ministeries ontvangt. De uitstraling mocht ook weer niet té fancy zijn. Het werk van KNCV Tuberculosefonds is immers alleen mogelijk dankzij subsidiegelden en donaties.
De keuzes van Kubik moesten daarom goed te verantwoorden zijn. Dat is gelukt. Een goed voorbeeld is het gebruik van gevingerlast resthout voor deuren en kozijnen. Dat bleek ook nog eens kostenbesparend. Visualisaties op de verdieping en de hoge archiefkasten verbeelden het internationale werkterrein van de KNCV Tuberculosefonds. Ze geven extra kleur en sfeer aan het interieur.

La Fondation KNCV Tuberculose est plus de cent ans activement engagés dans la lutte mondiale contre la tuberculose. En 2004, L’organisation devenu trop grand pour son logement, il a été décidé de passer à un bâtiment des année soixante-dix à La Haye.
Quelques critères importants formé les principes de base dans la conception de Kubik.
D’abord les deux étages ont été conçus de manière flexible en fonction de principes de «nouvel environnement de travail», où la liberté existe pour déterminer où, quand et comment nous travaillons. Deuxièmement, le design devait prévoir une expansion prévue de l’organisation dans l’avenir.
Par ailleurs, la représentation aux visiteurs et aux ministères, devait avoir un regard sincère et pas luxe. Les travaux de la Fondation est possible uniquement par des subventions et des dons.À cet effet les choix de Kubik ont dû être bien justifié. L’utilisation de déchets de bois, jointé ensemble, pour les portes et les cadres sont une conséquence directe de cela et ont été rentable ainsi. D’énormes tirages photo sur les cabinets visualise le champ international de la Fondation KNCV Tuberculose et fournit de la couleur et de l’atmosphère supplémentaires.
